News archive - [Event Announcement] 2nd European Innovation Summit

The 2nd European Innovation Summit “Tackling the Grand Challenges – Policy meets Practice” will take place from October 11 to 14, 2010 in the European Parliament in Brussels. The Summit Conference will discuss the role of innovation in different areas including energy efficiency, urban and regional mobility, sustained food security and agriculture, healthy ageing, as well as sustainable production.

Early registration is recommended.

Target audience:

First and foremost, the 2nd European Innovation Summit addresses the Members of the European Parliament. Other target audiences include decision makers from the various European Union Institutions, Agencies and Member States. More generally the EIS brings together Innovation Stakeholders with different backgrounds and expertise in the following areas:

* Research & Development
* Knowledge Transfer
* Innovation Support
* Innovative small and large Businesses
* Regional Organisations, Cities and City Regions
* Clusters
* Associations and Networks of the Innovative Sectors
* Universities

The Summit programme itself will touch upon subjects such as the following:

  • Sustainable Production for the Quality of Life - Strong and competitive manufacturing forms the basis for a high quality of life. Transformations and new developments along the whole value chain will be explored.
  • Sustaining Food and Agriculture - This session deals with the challenge of sustaining our needs regarding food and agriculture. The notion of food sustainability is pivotal as it covers everything from the food industry’s role in producing nutrient-rich products to the environmental impact of the food production.
  • Healthy Ageing -In the framework of the Summit, K4I plans to organise a debate on health-related issues including e-health, the health economy, and healthy lifestyle.
