News archive - [Event Announcement] Smart Exchange for Future Cities - Projects, Partnerships and Cooperations

The European Business and Science Forum “Smart Exchange for Future Cities – Projects, Partnerships and Cooperations” will bring together companies and research entities from different sectors interested in presenting their innovative ideas and keen to initiate new partnership projects dedicated to various topics of “Smart Cities”. The objectives are supporting and promoting cross-sector innovation, facilitating technology transfer from science to business and vice versa, getting inspired by new ideas and bringing together new partners from different European regions. Deadline for registration and submission of profiles: November 4, 2011.

With its Europe 2020 agenda, the European Commission laid the path to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in the forthcoming years. The Innovation Union and other flagship initiatives show the way how European business and science could face the global challenges like ageing population, energy efficiency, climate change and others. Cities as well as urbanised areas and their interconnected lifelines all over Europe will be widely affected by similar problems. Whilst limited resources call for completely new solutions for complex issues, Europe’s advantage is to approach the topics jointly in cross border and transnational cooperation. This would not only build up synergies but would evolve market leadership for European business and sciences around the world. The challenge is to assemble companies, scientists and other stakeholders to get started and to meet the requirements of the Innovation partnership for Smart Cities (to be launched in 2012)!
