Following the latest bimonthly update to Essential Science Indicators from Thomson Reuters, ScienceWatch.com has produced a listing of the scientists, institutions, countries, and journals that have achieved the highest percentage increase in total citations from the third bimonthly period of 2009 to the fourth bimonthly period of 2009—that is, from June 2009 to August 2009. These entities are singled out as "Rising Stars" in their respective fields.
Serbia has achieved "Rising Star" status in multiple fields. The full list of countries named as Rising Stars is given in the following table:

It appears that this is not a breaking news. Serbian researchers contributed to the country status of the rising star in the field of chemistry since the beginning 2008 - in all reports since than, Serbia ranked 1st in percentage increase of citations. Similar results are achieved in the fields of mathematics (ranked first in all 2009 reports), physics (ranked first in july, september, 2008 and march, september, november 2009 reports), engineering (ranked first in all reports since july 2009) and materials science (january, july, september, november, 2009). Finally, the country entered the list of the rising stars in the fields of clinical medicine, neuroscience and behaviour amd biology and biochemistry.
