The following events and activities took place in the period between November 2007 and July 2008:

* As of January 1, 2008 Montenegro officially became associated to FP7
* On December 7, 2007, Montenegro signed the Memorandum of joining CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research). The country has the status of the observer in this organization, which means that its researchers have right to take part in the joint research activities under this initiative, but without decision-making right.
* As of March 5, 2008, officially joined one of the CIP components – the EIP (Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme), aimed at projects supporting competitiveness and innovative capacities, especially in the field of small and medium-sized entrepreneurship
* First steps towards reform of statistical system have been made. The support will be provided partly through IPA funds and partly through bilateral support.
* Together with UNESCO BRESCE, on July 1-4, Forum on Higher Education, Science and Innovation will take place on Montenegrin coast, bringing together all important actors in the respective field from the SEE region, EC, and EU countries.
* The procedure of nominating representatives in FP7 Programme Committees is about to be completed, as well as nomination of representative in JRC committee.
