News archive - RIINVEST Institute informs about proposals developed for European R&I Advancement

In a bid to revolutionize research and innovation (R&I) in Europe, professors Dr. Majlinda Daci Ajvazi and Dr. Liridon Berisha from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at the University of Prishtina have unveiled a groundbreaking project.

"Enhancing the European R&I System (HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-ERA-01)" aims to tackle critical challenges faced in the R&I landscape and pave the way for enhanced collaboration between academia and industry.

Underpinned by the principles learned through their training on writing and implementing project proposals in Horizon Europe, the esteemed professors have developed a visionary project that seeks to address several key issues hampering R&I progress. These challenges include the lack of acceleration services in universities in the Western Balkans (WB6), limited cooperation between academia and industry, and inadequate monitoring mechanisms.

At the heart of the project lies the intention to bolster service capacities in higher education institutions (HEIs), enhancing their technological readiness and promoting innovation. To achieve this, the project will establish Technology Transfer Offices within HEIs, which will serve as catalysts for knowledge exchange and facilitate the transfer of technology from academia to industry.

The project also aims to foster greater collaboration between academia and industry, recognizing the inherent value in their synergy. By creating platforms and mechanisms to facilitate cooperation, HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-ERA-01 seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical research and real-world applications. Through this collaboration, it aims to drive forward the green and digital transition, which is essential for the sustainable development of the European R&I landscape.

Moreover, the project recognizes the need for robust monitoring mechanisms to ensure the effective implementation of R&I initiatives. By implementing comprehensive monitoring frameworks, HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-ERA-01 will enable policymakers and stakeholders to assess the impact and progress of R&I projects, ultimately fostering accountability and informed decision-making.

This visionary project represents a significant step forward in the Horizon Europe program, which aims to propel European R&I to new heights. It exemplifies the innovative spirit and determination of researchers and academics to address the challenges plaguing the R&I landscape, and showcases the transformative power of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

As the "Enhancing the European R&I System (HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-ERA-01)" takes center stage, it serves as a testament to the potential of Horizon Europe and the participants involved. This project marks just the beginning of a series of exciting ventures that will emerge from the program, offering hope for a future where research, innovation, and collaboration thrive.
