Roundtable on University Libraries and Open Science
The University of Sarajevo hosted an academic event titled "Roundtable on University Libraries and Open Science" on 15 May 15 2023. The purpose of this round table, organised by the Committee for the Library and Information System of the University of Sarajevo, was to commemorate the Committee's 10 years of work and activities.
During the event, various topics related to the advancement of the library and information services in higher education libraries and their promotion within the local and broader community were discussed. Emphasis was placed on the significance and role of libraries in education, as well as the adoption of crucial strategic documents concerning higher education libraries, such as the Digital Library Development Strategy, Procurement Policy, and the Strategic Plan for the Development of Libraries.
The subject of open access to science and information, along with the responsibility of librarians in facilitating this process, received particular attention during the discussions. Furthermore, the potential utilisation of Wikimedia projects for the creation and dissemination of open knowledge was explored in detail within this context.
