News archive - Inno Fab Lab, first Laboratory for production and prototyping in Republic of North Macedonia
In May 2022 the first Laboratory for production and prototyping INNO FAB LAB was open within the Faculty of Technology and Mettalurgy in Skopje. Under the mentorship of academic professors and experts the Lab helps young people aged 29 and under develop innovative ideas to functional prototype.
The Lab so far has launched two calls for participation for young people and there is great interest on their behalf. They are mostly high school and university students, and what we are especially glad about is the great interest (almost 50%) of the female students for STEM sciences.
INNO FAB LAB currently houses three teams.
The first team is developing eco paving bricks from rice shells (agricultural waste) with double usage. In the first phase the shells will be used to filter the waste waters from the cotton dying factories, and in the second phase they will be mixed with concrete to create eco paving tiles.
The second team is designing and prototyping aerodynamic object with innovative features.
The third team is developing eco lazy bag with the purpose to create products with added value and implementing the circular economy concept.
The Lab has multiple 3D pellet extruders, the newest model of CNC machine, GoBa M1 Pro, hot press machine for making composites of recycled plastic and other waste and a line for extruding recycled plastic.
INNO FAB LAB, was founded by the association Inno Tech Club with the support of the Fund for Innovation and Technology Development within the project “Challenge for establishing fabrication laboratories FAB LABS – Young people create”, the US Embassy and several companies from different industries.
