The Government of Canton Sarajevo in coordination with the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth has allocated funds in the amount of 2.556.460 EUR (equivalent of 5,000,000 BAM) to co-finance research projects in the Sarajevo Canton in 2022, which is the highest amount ever granted in BiH. The increase of the investment in research and science comparing to 2019 thus reaches almost 40%.

Since competent authorities in the field of research in FBiH are cantons, the increase of the research investment directly influences research organisations in Canton Sarajevo, including the University of Sarajevo.

Co-financing grants have been allocated to 327 research projects, and above 50% of granted funds is planned for specific research equipment. The University of Sarajevo has received the total of 1,603,052.75 EUR, out of which 65 per cent is for investment research equipment and infrastructure.

Implementation of research projects shall contribute to the development of research infrastructure in Canton Sarajevo as well as the visibility of the University of Sarajevo, an applicant granted with the 63% of total allocated funds.

Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of Canton Sarajevo has been a partner and support to participation of University of Sarajevo in the POLICY ANSWERS project.
