News archive - [Event Announcement] Empowering R&I collaboration to respond to the socio-economic challenges of the coronavirus pandemic

Participants, including R&I projects, organizations and individual researchers, engaged in COVID-19 related research, will therefore be invited to network and engage in a discussion around collaboration channels as well as barriers to collaboration .

International collaboration in health, socio-economic disciplines, humanities and the arts, has historically resulted in major breakthroughs that could not have been achieved without research partnerships. Today, global science is at a critical juncture.

The COVID-19 pandemic has mobilised science communities across Europe and beyond and sparked a great deal of data exchange and collaboration. Worldwide, researchers, scientists and experts from all fields of knowledge are working together to confront the coronavirus outbreak.

But the pandemic is more than a health crisis. It is shaking up societies and economies at the core. With this in mind, the EC is hosting a virtual seminar on 14 October 2021. This event will help strengthen global collaboration in research and innovation and tackle the socio-economic challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic. It is not possible to find solutions to the coronavirus pandemic by working only within one project or one country or even one continent. Participants, including R&I projects, organizations and individual researchers, engaged in COVID-19 related research, will therefore be invited to network and engage in a discussion around collaboration channels as well as barriers to collaboration .

They will also learn about the Coronavirus Global R&I Collaboration Portal https://coronavirus-global-collaboration.ec.europa.eu/ and how it supports collaboration to address the socio-economic aspects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Speakers will share valuable insights on the EU’s R&I response to the Coronavirus pandemic, calls and funded projects along with available tools and new initiatives.
