A particular emphasis in the project is given on training and capacity building services targeted to both the European and global science diplomacy community.

In May, the S4D4c Online Course on Science Diplomacy will be launched: It is a fully online training course structured in eight modules. More information will be available soon via https://www.s4d4c.eu/trainings/ Regardless of your professional position (diplomat, scientist, student, policy officer etc.) and your level of knowledge in Science Diplomacy, the S4D4C training elements are broad enough to serve anyone’s interest in the topic.

In case you plan to organize your own science diplomacy seminar, the project provides S4D4C Training Materials distributed with an open source license, these training materials derive from various S4D4C activities. Guidelines on how to use them and a filtering function to find exactly what you need are provided (see here for more info: LINK). The inputs were collected during the S4D4C Science Diplomacy Training Workshops which took place in 2019 – one in Trieste in October and one in Vienna in November. The goal of both workshops was to provide participants with the opportunity to understand the state-of-the-art of Science Diplomacy in Europe, let them learn about the necessary skills to work in Science Diplomacy and to showcase examples of Science Diplomacy in practice. Last but not least, S4D4C also promotes Open Doors Programmes and piloted one in Mid-October 2018, in order to train highly motivated scientists in Science Diplomacy. This competitive scheme gave five grantees the opportunity to engage with different diplomacy stakeholders across Europe and gain hands-on experience by taking part in a ‘learning by doing’ training programme in Science Diplomacy.
