News archive - Postponement of the Western Balkan R&I Meeting (Sofia, 18-19 March 2020)
The European Commission, DG Research and Innovation, has announced the postponement of the Western Balkans R&I Meeting which was to be held in Sofia , 18-19 March 2020.
The decision to postpone the meeting was taken by the European Commission, DG Research and Innovation, based on the fact that the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control has recently raised the level of risk associated with the spread of Covid-19 across the continent from 'moderate' to 'high'.
The EC recognises that the timing of this decision might be of significant inconvenience to the participants. However, this decision was made out of deep concern for the health and well-being of all speakers, delegates and staff.
The meeting will be shortly re-scheduled. New dates are currently under evaluation, indicatively in the period from July to September 2020.
