News archive - [Event Review] Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste educational programs presentation

Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste is an international multidisciplinary research center operating as a user facility, featuring a 2.0/2.4 GeV third generation synchrotron light source (Elettra), a free electron laser (FERMI@Elettra) and various support laboratories.

On 18 February 2020, interested parties gathered at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate, to participate in the presentation of educational programs at Elettra for Western Balkans in the field of radiation training (SYRTEP-WB) and internships (SYRIP-WB), doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships in the field of synchrotron radiation and application.

This event aimed to foster scientific cooperation between the Western Balkan countries through the training of researchers at the doctoral and post-doctoral levels. The meeting showcased the opportunities offered by synthetron Elettra and the free electron laser Fermi@Elettra in Trieste, Italy, as well as the opportunities opened by SYRTEP-WB and SYRIP-WB.

Both the SYRTEP-WB and SYRIP-WB initiatives aim to support young scientists active in the fields of materials science, physics, engineering and life sciences. SYRTEP-WB and SYRIP-WB will offer scholarships to PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, encouraging them to master synchrotron radiation techniques by applying them to their specific research interests.

The event was organized by Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy in BiH, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and the University of Sarajevo.
