News archive - Official evaluation of the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Montenegro by the EU took place in Seville

As the frontrunner in the process of joining the European Union, Montenegro has the chance to officially become the first non-EU28 country whose Smart Specialisation Strategy was verified at the international level.

Following the unofficial approval of the document by the European Commission in June 2019, Montenegro has adopted the Smart Specialisation Strategy at the national level, as a national umbrella development strategy. A special review by a large number of EU Directorates and Units (JRC, DG RTD, DG NEAR, DG GROWTH, DG AGRI) was carried out for 29 October in Seville, Spain.

The Montenegrin team was composed of representatives of the Ministry of Science, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Office for European Integration (IPA Team) who provided for the international recognition and approval of the Strategy.

Smart Specialisation Strategy is one of the most important policy documents of Montenegro, providing essential support to the economy and development of our society, as well as an important entrance ticket to the EU family.

Further information will be disclosed as soon as they will be available.
