News archive - Linking Bioeconomy with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations released 17 Sustainable Development Goals that communities all over the world have to meet. The BBI Public-Private Partnership published a series of BBI JU projects that have met the SDGs thereby showcasing the possibility for the industry to work hand in hand with the public sector in order to develop more integrated solutions to global challenges.

To meet the global goals for the people and the planet, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a powerful aspiration for communities to improve our world.

Bieconomy, as it turns out, plays a key role in achieving most of the said targets. The Bio-based Industries Consortium illustrated the strong link between the bioeconomy and the SDGs in their latest position paper entitled, Bioeconomy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

It presents a series of examples as to how business in the form of BBI JU projects can fulfill these SDGs laid out by the United Nations for the next 15 years.
