News archive - [Event Review] INORMS 2018

Following on from a successful 2016 Congress in Melbourne, Australia,  the INORMS 2018 congress was recently held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre from 4 – 7 June 2018. the event was hosted by ARMA, the Association of Research Managers and Administrators UK.

INORMS Congresses are held biennially and usually linked to one of the member societies’ annual meetings. The first congress took place in Brisbane 2006. The Congress provide the opportunity to meet, to present on, listen to and discuss research administration and research management, network and undertake professional development.

This year the event  featured a variety of plenary sessions, seminars and workshops covering key research management topics, specifically exploring our theme, Promoting Global Research Management, Supporting Global Research Challenges.
Following concurrent sub-themes run throughout the 3 days of the Congress:

  • Managing research projects
  • Open data and open access
  • Research integrity and ethics
  • Research impact and public engagement
  • Researcher development
  • Research policy and strategy
  • Leadership and professional development
  • Managing international collaborations
  • Winning friends and influencing people
  • The future shape of work
The programme was enhanced by several opportunities for delegates to develop their personal and professional skills, and build their CV.
