The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its  Operations Directorate (Ops) – Adriatic Sea Department (MA) – Slovenia, Croatia, Western Balkans Division (MA-3), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a: 

Graduate (GRAD) – Economic Resilience Initiative (Western Balkans)

Appointment on this post is for a fixed period of 2 years

 

Purpose

Within the Operations Directorate (OPS), the Slovenia, Croatia, and Western Balkans Division (MA-3) is responsible for financing projects under the Economic Resilience Initiative (ERI) in the Western Balkans. The ERI aims to upgrade and develop social and economic infrastructure while stimulating growth and job creation in the Western Balkans and Southern Neighbourhood regions. In this context, the GRAD would support the MA3 Division in developing and implementing the ERI in the Western Balkan countries.

In light of the implementation of the ERI, the responsibilities of the GRAD may consist of the following main tasks:

  • Assist in the identification, appraisal, approval and signature of suitable projects to develop a portfolio of operations under the ERI and to support MA3’s overall business plan
  • Provide financial analysis and due diligence on projects to develop impact finance opportunities under ERI Building Block 3B
  • Contribute to the Bank’s internal coordination of implementing ERI activities in the Balkans
  • Draft client briefings, reports, presentations and contribute to external communication and institutional events
  • Provide support to country loan officers in implementing the day-to-day operations of the ERI

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably with a focus on a Finance/Economics/Business-related subject
  • Good understanding of financial products (loan/guarantees), co-financing and grants;
  • Experience in working with financial products (loan/guarantees), co-financing and grants would be considered an advantage
  • Experience in financial analysis would be considered an advantage
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Excellent knowledge of English is required
