News archive - [Event Review] Dialogue on a Western Balkans Regional Alumni Association
Around 90 participants, including Erasmus+ alumni, students, teachers, representatives of youth organisations and National Erasmus+ Offices from the Western Balkans, gathered to discuss the need and functioning of a Western Balkans Regional Alumni Association (WB RAA). This dialogue followed up on the Ministerial meeting of the Western Balkans Platform on Education and Training (WB PET) held in Vlore, Albania, in July 2015, where the six Ministers of Education from the Western Balkans agreed on the need to establish a regional network of alumni.
Over the two days, participants addressed the most common challenges they face in the course of their studies and after graduation, as well as the role and contribution of a regional alumni association to address those challenges. On the second day, participants discussed both short-term activities and long-term objectives of WB RAA.
In the coming months, work will start on the development of a clear mandate and a list of activities, with a tentative launch of WB RAA early 2018. Representatives might then be invited to the next WB PET Ministerial meeting in Belgrade mid-2017, to present their achievements to the Ministers of the region.
