News archive - [Event review] - Workshop for 'enlargement countries' (WBCs and Turkey) on EU acquis on Research and Innovation (chapter 25)
The workhop, that aimed at discussing on the participation in Horizon 2020 and the preparation in view of such Programme was organised by the EC Directorate-General Research and Innovation (Unit International Cooperation) in cooperation with DG NEAR on 10-11 March 2016 in Brussels.
Ms Cristina Russo, Director of International Cooperation at DG R&I opened the event and stressed that multidisciplinary research as well as policies, infrastructures, funding, strategies, clear roadmaps etc. are all important issues. The level of investment needs to be increased as well as the ways to facilitate participation in Horizon 2020 are of key importance. The workshop aimed to assist to prepare ERA Roadmaps as the participation success depends on compliance with ERA priorities.
On the first day the ways to the ERA roadmap were discussed as well as the latest developments in Open Innovation. As far as the ERA priorities are concerned, the presentations focused on: more effective national research systems: on International Cooperation and role of Scientific Forum on International cooperation (SFIC): on the Open Labour market for researchers. The Charter & Code, HRS4R and art. 32 of the H2020 General Agreement was also tackled and an awareness raising campaign in the WBCs in 2016-17 was also presented.
The second day focused on H2020 and the Transnational cooperation and competition (cross-border cooperation and infrastructure) was addressed while the Horizon 2020 Work programme 2016-2017 was presented together with thefirst results and upcoming activities.
Statistics of the H2020 participation by enlargement countries were further depicted. The event was concluded by a dscussion tips and hints on how to boost such participation and the synergy between Research and Innovation and Pre-Accession
