News archive - [Event Review] Regional conference on cross-border cooperation between Montenegro, Croatia and BiH held in Herceg Novi

Regional Conference “Cross-Border Cooperation: Opportunities for joint action on the border of Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina” was held in Herceg Novi on 21 and 22 of April.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Managing Authority Cross-border Programme INTERREG IPA for Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The two-day conference, that gathered more than hundred representatives of the three countries, was the opportunity to present the potentials of strengthening good neighborly relations and the priorities identified by binding options that are available from the IPA funds of the European Union.

The meeting was opened by the State Secretary for European Integration and National Coordinator for IPA Ambassador Aleksandar Andrija Pejović, the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Nataša Aćimović and the head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Serbia and Montenegro, Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes.

Ambassador Pejović stressed the importance of regional cooperation to achieve common goals and the realization of the European perspective of the region. He highlighted that the IPA Cross-Border Cooperatioon Programme Croatia-Bosnia and Herzegovina-Montenegro 2014-2020 is a continuation of the successful cooperation that Montenegro had with Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina through bilateral cross-border programs in the previous financial perspective 2007-2013.

President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi, Nataša Aćimović said that cross-border cooperation programs represent a good framework to support cooperation between institutions and organizations, strengthen regional competitiveness through the implementation of joint projects, their institutional sustainability, as well as financial support to resolve issues of common interest.

Head of Konrad Adenauer Foundation for Serbia and Montenegro, Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes welcomed the initiatives that contribute to the strengthening of good neighborly relations. In this regard, it is pointed out that the Konrad Adenauer Foundation will continue to support projects that contribute to the realization of the idea of regional cooperation.
