Objectives and content of the Networking Forum
The main goal of the Networking Forum was to intensify and improve higher education cooperation between the Western Balkan region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro and Serbia) and Germany in Erasmus+ with a focus on Erasmus+ Key Action 2 “Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education” (CBHE).
The EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport, Erasmus+ (2014-2020), includes a strong international dimension in the field of higher education and supports several actions targeting cooperation with Partner Countries worldwide. Especially Erasmus+ Key Action 2 activity CBHE builds on the success of the former Tempus programme and continues to promote higher education cooperation between Programme and Partner Countries. CBHE especially supports the modernisation of higher education in the EU's surrounding area and focuses on reform and modernisation of higher education Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean region and the Western Balkans.
The Forum supported future Erasmus+ CBHE applicants by facilitating networking between German higher education representatives and their existing and future partners in the Western Balkans.
The forum consisted of two components:
- Fact Finding Mission - German Higher Education representatives had the possibility to visit Higher Education institutions in Serbia (0,5 days)
German Higher Education representatives gained an insight into the higher education system and institutions in Serbia and met higher education representatives of their respective fields of studies.
- Networking seminar “EU-Higher Education Cooperation between Germany and the Western Balkan region” (1,5 days)
Participants were informed about funding opportunities for higher education cooperation. German higher education representatives had the possibility to present their project ideas to the audience. Best practice examples of ongoing or previous projects as well as time slots for networking amongst each other complemented the agenda of the seminar.
