News archive - EU-former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia: about EU agenda for 2014

Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle met yesterday with Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Besimi and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki, of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The focus of this meeting was on EU-related reforms, including the role of the High Level Accession Dialogue as a tool to support progress on the European path of the country.

They discussed the implementation of last year's 1 March political agreement and key reform priorities including in the field of freedom of media, judicial independence and electoral legislation.

They agreed to continue the discussion on strengthening the High Level Accession Dialogue and its impact, ahead of the next Progress Report, in order to move forward on the EU integration path.

They also discussed good neighbourly relations and the need for continued efforts to build confidence and create conditions for solutions.
