Three Problem-Specific Policy Briefs Published were recently published as a result of round table discussions held from April to June in Prishtina.
1) “The State of Research in Social Sciences at the University of Prishtina”
This policy brief summarises roundtable discussions held on 19 April 2013 in Prishtina.
This paper identifies challenges and actions concerning the current state of social science research at the University of Prishtina. It addresses relevant documents on research in Kosovo such as Social Science in Kosovo* published by Centre for Political Courage; the Strategy on Research/Artistic and Development Activities 2013-2016, adopted by the University of Prishtina; and the Information Report on Social Sciences and Humanities in Kosovo* prepared for the WBC-INCO.NET project.
The briefing paper concludes with recommendations stating specific steps that should be undertaken to upgrade research capacities at the University of Prishtina, which is the largest higher education institution in Kosovo*.

2) “Policymaker Impact on Research Work in Kosovo*”
This policy brief summarises roundtable discussions held during a conference on 20 May 2013 in Prishtina.
The paper identifies the best practices used to strengthen cooperation between research and decision-making communities in order to enhance scientific and research capacities in Kosovo. The summary focuses primarily on three topics: 1) Budget allocation for science and research in Kosovo; 2) legislative frameworks; and 3) the implementation of a proposed National Science Programme of Kosovo*.
This briefing paper aims to advocate institutions that design higher education and research policies in order to advance legal frameworks governing research and financial autonomy of research institutions in Kosovo*.

3) “The State of Research at Think Tank Organisations in Kosovo”
This policy brief is based on a roundtable held on 25 June 2013 in Prishtina.
This briefing paper addresses the state of research at think tank organisations in Kosovo including their policies, research methodology and relevance of research conducted. Moreover, it investigates policies pursued by major donors and the extent to which these policies address the needs of Kosovo’s researchers active in the think tank sector.
This briefing paper aims to contribute to the strengthening the cooperation and networks between think tank organisations and donors.
