The deadline for applications for the call for Post-Doctoral and Dissertation Research scholarships in the frame of the HIGHER KOS project is approaching. The Call will close on 1st October 2013!
Postgraduates, PhD holders and PostDoc researchers from Kosovo* who are staff members of Kosovan public universities are invited to apply for a PostDoc/ Dissertation Research fellowship for (Austrian) universities. The objective is that PostDoc researchers will contribute to the institutional capacity development of their home institutions in Kosovo* by completing their PostDoc and Dissertation Research at a university abroad. A total number of 8-10 research grants will be granted for Kosovan PhD holders and researchers.

- Grants for Post-doctoral and dissertation research: 1 - 3 months
- 8 - 10 research grants
- 1) Monthly grant rate
- a) for PhD students: 940.-- EUR
- b) for post-docs: 1,040.-- EUR
- 2) Travel Grant: 500.-- EUR (once)
- 3) Accident and health insurance, accommodation
- a) If necessary, the OeAD will take out an accident and health insurance on behalf of the grant recipient.
- b) The OeAD-GmbH will provide accommodation (student hall of residence or flat) for recipients of grants. Monthly costs: 220.-- to 470.-- EUR (depending on how much comfort the recipients of grants want). An administration fee of 18 EUR per month is payable to the OeAD for arranging accommodation. The costs for insurance and accommodation have to be paid out of the grant by the recipient of the grant.

Staff members of Kosovan public universities:
- Post-docs (incl. Dr.med.) and
- PhD students who are in their last year of doctoral studies and plan to do a research for their dissertation
Applicants must not yet have started their research in Austria at the time of application.
Age Limit:
not older than 45 (born on or after Oktober 1st, 1968)
Formal Requirements:
- Online application form (www.scholarships.at) including the description of the study or research proposal
The following documents have to be uploaded with the application:
- Tentative schedule and work plan
- Two letters of recommendation by university lecturers (for these letters of recommendation no specific form is required; they must contain the letterhead, date and signature of the person recommending the applicant and the stamp of the university / department and must be no older than six months at the time of application.)
- Confirmation of a professor at the Austrian or foreign target university to supervise the applicant academically
- Scan of your passport (page with the name and photo)
- Scan of your university graduation certificate of your diploma, master, PhD or doctoral studies
- Confirmation by the (home) institution: it must be demonstrated that the individual need for academic education serves the specific demands of the institution (e.g. within the development plan of the academic institution) and the development needs of Kosova and that the applicant will be (re)employed by the (home) institution after having finished the studies. - Proof of language skills (English and/or German)

Incomplete applications and applications not complying with the application criteria will not be taken into account!

Final decision by the Selection Board (based on the results of the score)
Aspects that may be decisive when a choice between equally scored applications needs to be made:
-gender: to increase the representation of women amongst scholars, women will be selected preferentially in cases of equal qualification of female and male candidates
-applicants from underrepresented groups
- involvement in an academic partnership
- thematic focus on cross cutting topics as "gender", "peace building and conflict prevention" and "environmental protection"
- balanced overall coverage of thematic priorities
- candidates showing a "confirmation by the (home) institution"
- projects performed as "sandwich programmes"
