News archive - Eurostars to launch new online application system under Horizon 2020

Eurostars is the only European funding programme to be specifically dedicated to innovative Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The simplicity of its procedures makes it a benchmark for other European funding programmes, as a global effort is currently under way to make funding procedures simpler for applicants across all future Horizon 2020 instruments.

Eurostars continues to lead the way as a programme designed for bureaucracy-averse small businesses and one of the major improvements to come concerns the application process. Staring from the next Eurostars call in 2014, all applications will be submitted on web-forms in Eurostars’ own online system. Applicants will be able to update and save information in their application forms on the Eurostars website instead of a separate document, and complete applications received before the cut-off date will be accepted for evaluation. The system will allow for more interaction between project applicants and Eurostars project officers, permitting a quicker response time to the questions of the applicants.

The application form will be constructed to promote concise but comprehensive answers, justifications and descriptions from the applicants. Expected economic impact and assessment of market risks will be reemphasized to highlight their relative importance and underscore the fact that Eurostars is a market-oriented research programme.

A new contact details registration tool will improve the following of organisations involved in multiple applications by the central call coordination office.
