News archive - ELI - open positions interesting for WBC (and not only) experts and researchers

Romania has recently contracted the Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) project.
WBC-INCO.NET is glad to disseminate again the related Call for open positions, as ELI-NP will require a solid human resources structure of about 250 jobs by 2018. There are interesting positions for engineers, researchers and experts from WBC, but not only.

ELI-NP is part of the "Extreme Light Infrastructure", which was identified in 2006 by the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructure (ESFRI) as one of the top priority projects of research infrastructure for Europe. The ELI-NP project is part of this pan-European Laser facility - along with the facilities near Prague – Czech Republic and Szeged – Hungary. The ELI-NP project was approved by the European Commission in September 2012 together with the financial support of 180 million Euros for the 1st phase over the years 2011-2015. The total cost of the project amounts to 293 million Euros.

ELI-NP will create a new European laboratory to consistently investigate a very broad range of science domains, from new fields of fundamental physics, new nuclear physics and astrophysics topics, to applications in material science, life sciences and nuclear materials management. ELI-NP has a great flexibility to cover various interdisciplinary areas, as a consequence of the possibility to employ simultaneously in experiments multiple radiation types, produced by equipment that will be unique at the moment of entering operation.

The project aims to promote national and European research by creating an internationally-renowned research infrastructure, open to specialists from the academic and private scientific sphere, as well as the business sector.
The access to the infrastructure will be “open access” for not-for-profit organizations, researchers being able to submit proposals for experiments, then evaluated and selected by an international commission. Part of the operation time will be allocated to private companies that will pay the access costs, thus bringing a contribution to the ELI-NP operation costs.

As projected, the full exploitation of ELI-NP (still in prospective) will require a solid human resources structure of about 250 jobsThe receiving of applications for the ELI-NP job openings is an ongoing process. The estimated number of new ELI-NP employees in R&D up to 2016 is 126, out of which 20 on Senior Researcher positions, 70 Junior Researchers, 20 Engineers and 16 Technicians. Benefits for the future employees: motivating salary based on qualifications and experience; social insurance; medical insurance.

The applicants will be informed via e-mail on the progress of the procedure.
