News archive - [Call for Papers] LOCAL ECONOMIC AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT OF SEE IN THE CONTEXT OF EU
The Conference is organised by the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with several other Institutions. A Call for papers is open until 30th April 2013.
Topics of the Conference are:
Managementand strategic planning of local economic development
- Constitutional and legal position of municipal and city authorities in strategic planning and promoting local economic and infrastructure development;
- The role of the municipal and city mayors in the local economic and infrastructural development;
- Place and role of the city manager in the functioning of the local community;
- The role of municipal and city councils / assemblies in local economic and infrastructural development, the mayor of Sarajevo;
- Best practices and implementations of the roles of municipal and city authorities in local economic and infrastructural development in the Western Balkans;
- Cases of good practice of local economic development.
II Financing of local economic and infrastructure development
- Public - private partnership as a model of financing local economic development;
- Cross-border cooperation of municipalities and cities in the area of local economic development;
- Financial institutions and support to local economic development;
- Borrowing by local communities as a method of financing development.
The role of civil society in local economic and infrastructure development
- The role of civil society organizations in the design of projects for local economic and infrastructure development;
- Examples of good practice of the engagement of civil society.
Local communities and territorial organization
- Review of existing and proposed territorial organization in the region with a focus on the position of local communities.
All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings, which will be included in the relevant scientific databases (EBSCO, and others).
The Conference language is English and / or local languages.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by 15 May 2013
Deadline for submission of papers is 30 June 2013
The deadline for registration is 1 August 2013
The final program will be delivered by 1 September 2013

The organisers kindly ask to let them know by 30 April 2013, if you want to participate in a round table with mayors, including discussion, presentation of the previous work results and posing questions on topics related to local economic development and territorial organization (without sending scientific paper). Round table is scheduled for Saturday, 21 September2013, starting at 9.30.
