Consultation on directions for ICT-driven public sector innovation in the EU

The European Commission recently launched  an online public consultation on research and innovation in ICT-driven public sector innovation. The answers will help to prepare Horizon 2020 forthcoming Work Programmes. All the interested stakeholders: national administrations, businesses, researchers, innovators, academia and interested users can provide their ideas on research and innovation activities at the EU level. The consultation will be open until 15 April 2013.

The document on directions for ICT-driven public sector innovation describes some initial thoughts on research and innovation challenges in the forthcoming Horizon2020 Work Programmes. People participating in the consultation are invited to comment on the document or provide their own ideas.

The participants are asked to provide their thoughts on the following three questions:

1. What should be the drivers needed to cover the important changes and challenges in the area of ICT-driven public sector innovation?

2. Which enablers, whether technology or non-technology are relevant to this ICT-driven public sector innovation area? Are there any important ones missing or irrelevant ones included?

3. Which focus areas of ICT-driven public sector innovation should be addressed up to 2020? Are there any areas requiring research and innovation, missing?

Public Consultation on Cloud Computing, Software and Services

DG Connect launched a web-based Public Consultation in view of defining future research priorities in Cloud Computing, Software and Services, ahead of the H2020 ICT Work Programme 2014-15. All interested stakeholders (industry, research centres, academia, SMEs and users) are warmly invited to contribute. The consultation runs from 27 February until 2 April 2013. When this consultation is completed, a post-consultation Workshop will be held in Brussels on Wednesday, 17 April 2013 in order to discuss and validate the views expressed by different actors during the consultation.

Here you will find a draft document describing our initial thoughts on how the forthcoming ICT Work Programme 2014-15 could address the future research and innovation challenges in the sector. This document draws on the reports prepared by ISTAG in July 2012 and by the Cloud Computing Expert Group in December 2012, on NESSI ETP Position Papers and on Cloud Select Industry Group Research priorities.

You are kindly invited to comment on any aspects of the above-mentioned draft document.
