News archive - Research roadmaps for EC’s 2013 Work Programme published

Before the European Commission proposes new initiatives it assesses the potential economic, social and environmental consequences that they may have. Impact assessment is a set of logical steps which helps the Commission to do this. It is a process that prepares evidence for political decision-makers on the advantages and disadvantages of possible policy options by assessing their potential impact.

The EC has recently published impact assessment documents, known as roadmaps, on the research-related initiatives outlined within its 2013 Work Programme (CWP).

The CWP was adopted in October 2012 and outlines planned initiatives on: reviewing the criteria for state aid to research, the promotion of energy technologies, proposals for reinforced partnering in research and innovation (including the renewal of the Joint Technology Initiatives) within Horizon 2020, a new public-private-partnership on bio-based industries, the renewal of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership and the successor to the Eurostars programme for SMEs.
