News archive - [Event Review] European Science Foundation Member Organization Forum on Evaluation of Publicly Funded Research

The ESF Member Organisation Forum on Evaluation of Funding Schemes and Research Programmes was successful in exchanging practices and facilitating the networking of sciences officers engaged in evaluation, and the feedback on this MO Forum was very positive. During the course of its work, new questions arose which were deemed to be worthwhile to explore in this new ESF Member Organisation Forum on Evaluation of Publicly Funded Research.

The final Workshop of the Forum was organised on December 6-7, 2012 in Bonn, Germany. It was kindly hosted by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). Janja Trkulja and Sandra Milovanović from Croatian Science Foundation were also among the partcipants.

The aim of the conference was to discuss key issues and challenges in the practical implementation of Research Evaluation.

The workshop main objectives were:

  1. To offer a platform for ESF MOs who are evaluating their funding schemes to learn from existing experiences.
  2. To define and communicate common standards.
  3. To establish a discussion with practitioners.
  4. To take the discussion to a broader (global) audience.
  5. To encourage uptake of the recommendations developed in the ESF MO Forum on Evaluation of Publicly Funded Research and the MO Forum on Indicators of Internationalisation by other organisations and by the “width” of the MOs and to find ways to implement them.
  6. To encourage a follow-up and future collaboration.
