The Center for Empirical Cultural Studies of South-East Europe and the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade are issuing a call for papers to be published in the volume “Us and Them – symbolic divisions in Western Balkan societies”.
Priority will be given to papers presented at the international conference of the same name held on July 7th and 8th, 2012 in Belgrade, but other submitted papers will also be given due consideration.
Themes
Articles can be written on various types of symbolic divisions in Western Balkan societies (socioeconomic, status, political, religious, ethnic, moral, cultural, gender, sexual, regional, urban/rural and many others), on the ways they interweave (overlap, conflict...) and „harden“ into social boundaries, influencing social life in WB societies.
Conditions
Papers should be written in English, a maximum of 5000 words in length (excluding the bibliography), Times New Roman font, 12 points, contain an abstract of 300 words and also five key words in the text, following the abstract. Brief biographies of contributing authors (150 words per contributing author) should likewise be submitted. Other formatting requirements (quotations, bibliography) will be supplied to authors of selected papers.
Deadline for Submissions
The deadline for submissions is February 25th 2013. Publication is expected by the end of June 2013.
