News archive - RISE worldwide 2013 - Research Internships in Science and Engineering for German Bachelor Students

Following on from the success of the RISE intern program inviting US and UK undergraduates on internships to Germany, DAAD now has a reciprocal program offering German undergraduates the opportunity of an internship abroad over the summer.

DAAD is inviting research groups from all over the world who are interested in hosting a German undergraduate to assist in their research in the summer of 2013 to submit their internship project online at www.daad.de/rise-programs.

In this program, research groups, laboratories and doctoral students can apply to host a motivated and well-qualified student from Germany as a research intern to assist with a proposed project. Students participating in this program come from the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, or a closely related field, and will receive a DAAD scholarship to help cover living expenses and travel costs.

If you are interested then please go to http://www.daad.de/rise-weltweit/en/index.html. Here, you will find the database where you can enter your project offers. The database opens October 8, 2012 and the deadline for entering your project is November 25, 2012. After that, the database is closed for the internship providers and the students can review the offers and apply for the projects.
Once DAAD has approved your offer, it will be posted in the intern database on our website. This database is accessible to anyone who is interested in applying and has registered online.

Each student applying for an internship may apply for up to three projects, between December 3, 2012 and January 13, 2013. The prospective hosts are then asked to provide DAAD with their quality assessment of the applications for their projects.
Please note: Only those students whose applications have been accepted, reviewed and ranked by a potential host are placed with that host’s project. We do our best to account for both the preferences of the students and of the hosts. However, we cannot guarantee in every case that a project provider will be matched with his or her top applicant.
