The call will provide support for up to two transnational networks of incubators to facilitate the scaling up of social innovations from their local communities to across Europe.

The objective of the information day is to inform the participants about the content of the call (FP7-CDRP-2013-INCUBATORS), which is expected to be published by mid-July 2012, and to facilitate the networking among social innovation and business incubators, including organisations, such as technology parks, universities or other science and research organisations.

It will bring together leaders in social innovation and business incubation, and other organisations including technology parks, universities or other science and research bodies. Incubators for social innovation could accelerate the growth of small innovative businesses and enable experiments that are small and locally successful to be applied in other places across Europe, spreading good ideas and innovations. The Commission (DG Research and Innovation) will provide support for up to two transnational networks of incubators to facilitate the scaling up of social innovations from their local communities to higher geographical levels across Europe.

The day is for everyone working to unleash the potential of social innovation to support growth and jobs in Europe, starting from social innovation practitioners and entrepreneurs, business clusters and networks, social innovation parks, universities, technological institutes, private research institutions and bodies.

The event will provide the opportunity to learn about this new action, its objectives and requirements, and how to take part. It will also enable participants to present their ideas and work in this area, and come together and engage in networking through flash presentations through brokerage sessions. The Commission will also present other related actions and programmes supporting social innovation at European level. The main part of the event will be dedicated to the participants’ exchange of ideas and interests to test new approaches involving incubation of social innovation and turn them to successful European examples.
