Smart Specialisation in the Western Balkans –potential for knowledge-based economic cooperation
In June 2019, the European Commission's Joint Research Centre together with the Romanian Ministry of Research and Innovation in the frame of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU have organised a "Conference on Smart Specialisation Strategies and Technology Transfer in South-East Europe". One of the three parallel streams of the conference focuseds on South-East European countries' experiences in introducing smart specialisation strategies, and inform on Western Balkan economies' current efforts in preparing the smart specialisation strategies and developing the necessary underlying processes.
The presentation available here was given by the S3 Platform of the JRC, European Commission and depicts the Smart Specialisation as an integrated place-based economic transformation agenda via research and innovation while informing also on teh support to S3 for the Western Balkans.
