It is a business association for improving metal sector competitiveness in Vojvodina/Serbia. The VMC is the most significant metal association in Serbia.

It gathers 130 members at presence (103 enterprises + 27 institutions), of which: 84,6% are from AP Vojvodina, 13,9% from other part of the Republic of Serbia and 1,5% are from EU (domestic companies with majority ownership structure originating from the EU).

VMC has emerged as one of the key results of the same project, which was funded byt he EU (through RSEDP2 programme). The project was supported by the Government of Vojvodina. The cluster was completely linked to the project until its completion, on May 28, 2013. Since then, the cluster has been organizationally and financially completely independent.

Cluster networking is the most important strategy for economic development that is being successfully implemented in developed countries. Cluster development is included in the Europe strategy 2014-2020 and particular attention is paid to its implementation in countries in transition, such as Serbia.

By the nature, clusters represent the partnership between: enterprises, government bodies and support institutions (universities), based on the principle of flexible specialization, where everyone does what they know best having the good conditions for and are the basis for the realization of the concept of rapid development and rapid manufacturing.
