Short description
Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar was founded in 1977. It is a public higher education institution. During the previous war in Mostar, University lost all its premises and equipment. However, teaching process and progress of this higher-educational institution did not intermit. It continued to work in different premises, until the University entered new facilities at the locality of USRC "Midhat Hujdur Hujka".
 
There were 5600 students enrolled at Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar in the academic year of 2012/2013. There are in total 350 people involved in the teaching process from which there are 175 members of academic staff and 61 members of administration.
 
There are eight members of "Dzemal Bijedic" University. They are, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Civic Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Information, Technologies, Agro-Mediterranean Faculty and Faculty of Education.
 
University also has Centre for permanent learning, Centre for SMEs, Career Centre Mostar, CCMLL, Centre for biotechnology, International centre for philosophy as well as Institute for mechanical engineering, Institute for economic development, Institute for civil engineering, Institute for information technologies and Micro Tic and CISCO Academy
 
Very active role in University everyday activities have International Relation Office and Office for quality assurance.
 
Within the University Campus exists University Library. University library was established only three years after the very establishment of the University. During the recent war, Library was not working and in 1993 library building was burned down together with the entire library holdings.   Library started working again in academic year of 1996/97 and the books were mostly donations.
 
Today library has around 24 000 books and the library holdings is purchased according to faculties’ curricula.
 
In May 2005, the Library won the status of NATO deposit library and became a member of NATO library network for southeastern Europe.    In 2007 library became a member of Bosnia and Herzegovina Virtual Library.
 
Library activities include organization of book promotions, exhibition of monograph publications of university professors and other events.  As an important component in University life there is Students’ Union.
 
University "Dzemal Bijedic" of Mostar has entered international cooperation with Universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, European Universities, scientific and institutions in the country and abroad, what is enhancing the visibility of our institution in the city of Mostar, Herzegovina Neretva Canton and the entire country

Its research infrastructure is open towards external users, which is enabled through bilateral agreements and participation in different programs. There are no differences in access policy for different groups, also, foreign lecturers and researchers have access to the university.
