Main scientificdomain: Engineering

Category: Materials testing facilities

Short description

The FRIMEKS Laboratory consists of two full-scale inertia brake dynamometers of the PSK family and 2  full-scale inertia clutch test stands of the PSS family intended for laboratory testing of brake and/or clutch functional characteristics, i.e. their performance and reliability, when such friction mechanisms are foreseen to be used in different motor vehicles and/or their trailers.

The PSK family test stands are used for evaluation of ability of a brake or its components and/or the materials, such as friction linings and other, to fulfill requirements related to its application on the intended vehicle in question. For that reason, the PSK family test stands enable the tested brake to be built into the dynamometer in the way that is analogous to the manner of its installation on the vehicle for which it is intended.

The PSK family test stands enable laboratory testing of the Cold Brake Performance, Hot Brake Performance, Pressure and/or Speed and/or Temperature Sensitivity of the brake, brake performance in comparison to designed service loads, as well as testing of wear characteristics of brakes and its components, and especially of brake linings and rotors for both drum and disc brakes.

The PSK family test stand enable laboratory testing of brake performance and reliability by means of different test procedures, which are used for this purpose all over the world. The supplier of the test stand offers his standardized methodology of testing, which is based on the Yugoslav standard JUS.M.N4.813/88. This testing procedure corresponds to the testing methods and requirements for the brake efficiency according to ECE Regulation No. 13, and related EEC Directive 71/320, but also to ECE Regulation No. 90 for replacement brake assemblies, and relevant ISO standards in the field of laboratory evaluation of brake performance. In addition to that, the PSK family inertia dynamometers enable performing of other methods of testing, like those used by the world famous vehicle manufacturers, or brake or friction material manufacturers, for example. The application of such specific procedures is possible, of course, only within technical characteristics of the test stand as declared in this offer.

The PSK family test stands are equipped for automatic control of the dynamometer operation. The microcomputer is also used for data acquisition and on-line or off-line data processing and presentation, including printing of the test report.
