PROOFEEDBACK COST Action Training School: Theory-based evaluation of Public Policies and Programmes
The training school is the first such initiative in the framework of the PROFEEDBACK COST Action, and it is prepared by the Working Group 1 “Theoretical concepts of evaluation”. Three other, more methodological training schools will follow, prepared by the other two Working Groups under PROFEEDBACK. Training schools serve to help the Action achieve their objectives and deliver impact with regard to capacity building, allowing COST Actions to provide training for researchers and innovators in highly specialised topics which are essential for the Action. They are the tool for transferring know-how among all types of actors.
The first PROFEEDBACK training school will focus on theory-based evaluation. Theory-based approaches to evaluation found growing attention in the last years in Europe, not least because of the support given by the European Commission. The training school aims at introducing the main concepts of theory-based evaluation and provide participants with a framework for planning and carrying out theory-based evaluations. For more information, please see the Training School preliminary programme.
The PROFEEDBACK COST Action aims to foster the networking of the policy evaluation community at EU-level, raise awareness on the importance of evaluation policy research and improve its impact on policy-making. Policy evaluation is a key tool in understanding, developing and modernizing EU policies, thus there is growing demand for EU-wide and high-quality evaluation services.
The Western Balkans participate actively in this COST Action.
Target group: The training school is being prepared for young researchers from the academic as well as, civil servants and people working in private organizations. Applicants should be comparatively new to the field of evaluation. Nonetheless, they should have a certain experience in public policy.
