European Research and Innovation Days 2019
The first annual policy event of the European Commission, bringing together stakeholders to debate and shape the future research and innovation landscape. This year Brussels will host several type of events during the R&I Days; the programme for the 3 specific components of the event is being developed. Find below some first information.
Speakers will include ministers, commissioners, members of European Parliament, researchers, as well as surprise guests each day.
The event will be central to finding research and innovation solutions for this great transition by working across polices, setting the direction, spurring innovation and triggering investment. It will be the moment for all stakeholders to meet and co-create the strategic priorities for the European Commission's investment in research and innovation.
The event will comprise a Policy conference, an Innovation hub and the 'Science is Wonderful!' exhibition.
Policy conference (24-26 September)
It will bring together world leaders from industry, finance, academia and the entrepreneurial community to debate and shape the future research and innovation landscape.
This will cover vital areas of science, engineering, medicine, and wider social and environmental concerns.
It will also provide an important opportunity for key stakeholders to input ideas into the overall strategic planning for the future Horizon Europe. This is the European Commission's proposal for the next EU research and innovation programme (2021-2027) with a proposed budget of €100 billion.

Innovative Europe Hub (24-26 September)
This is an unparalleled meeting and exhibition space for inventors, investors, entrepreneurs and the whole range of services, businesses, civil society organisations, agencies and intermediaries that make European science technology so dynamic.
There will be brokerage places, participatory and cooperative sessions, pitch sessions and labs.

'Science is Wonderful!' exhibition (25, 26 September)
Free and open to everybody, 'Science is Wonderful!' brings the world of science to the public.
Fighting cancer, slowing down global warming, preventing hunger and drought, facilitating human life in space - it's all part of the variety of activities schools, families and young people can discover at the event.
Through hands-on experiments, live demonstrations, face-to-face chats with researchers, 'Science is Wonderful!' shows how science impacts our daily lives.
