Short description

The National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia (NBRM) announces a call for papers for the 5th Annual Research Conference, traditionally organized to mark the anniversary of the country's monetary independence. The Conference will be held in Skopje, on April 7-8, 2016. It aims at bringing at one place researchers from academia and policy-making institutions, with a sole purpose of enabling a ground for a debate on relevant economic issues.

Description

Given that the main lessons of the last global crisis, interactions between financial sector and macroeconomic developments and the need for policy redesign to appropriately address the changing environment, are current challenges pertinent for many economies, next year's Conference topic is titled as "Economic and financial cycle spillovers: reconsidering domestic and cross border channels and policy responses". Keynote lectures on the Conference will be given by distinguished guest speakers from the central banks, academic or policy-making institutions. The papers submitted for the conference should deal, ideally, with the following issues:

  • Economic and financial cycle synchronizations and spillovers;
  • Financial deepening: balancing stability and growth;
  • Monetary policy and financial stability;
  • Financial stability challenges and macroeconomic impacts;
  • International financial markets spillovers on domestic economy;
  • Financial system reforms;
  • Financial inclusion and growth.

The organizing team would like to invite all researchers from academic and policy-making institutions to submit paper proposals. We solicit high-quality submissions, both theoretical and empirical papers related to the non-exclusive list of broad topics suggested above. Interested researchers should submit their papers or extended proposals (min 500 words), together with a short CV, by e-mail at  NBRMResearchConference@nbrm.mk no later than February 1, 2016.  Authors of the accepted papers will be notified no later than February 19, 2016. The conference version of the paper and the presentation are expected by March 25, 2016.

Please note that the NBRM will cover accommodation costs for the selected speakers. The selected papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings Volume and on the web site, subject to author/institution permission.
