Description

Horizon 2020 Proposal Development Lab

6-10 June 2016 in Budapest

The Lab is a unique five-day intensive training programme covering all the theoretical and practical aspects of developing and submitting competitive project proposals under the EU’s research and innovation programme Horizon 2020.

The Lab has been developed by Europa Media in response to the recurring demands of our training participants for a longer and more comprehensive course, providing a complete insight into Horizon 2020 and the necessary skills to develop and submit winning proposals.

The Lab will provide you with a unique oppotunity to gain direct insight into the daily work of Europa Media and Geonardo teams, and experience first-hand how we develop our proposals and manage our projects.

Let’s spend a week together – Only 10 participants will be admitted!

The Horizon 2020 Proposal Development Lab is not simply a training course.

It is a comprehensive programme that consists of presentations, practical workshops, on-the-job exercises and personal consultations.

You will spend a whole week with Europa Media’s team of project managers, coordinators and financial administrators, hosted at our premises, getting a complete insight into the funding opportunities under Horizon 2020, and developing and submitting competitive proposals in response to H2020 calls.

Only 10 participants will be admitted to The Lab in order to ensure a much more focussed learning experience and a customised programme.

During the 5-day Lab, you will:

  • Get a complete insight into the Horizon 2020 programme and the opportunities it offers;
  • Gain the necessary skills to turn your innovative ideas into winning concepts;
  • Understand how to conceive competitive Horizon 2020 proposals;
  • Learn how to address adequately the impact and exploitation issues in your proposals;
  • Obtain the know-how to plan a sound project budget;
  • Understand the evaluation process and context to better conceive your proposal;
  • Get the opportunity to interact with our project managers, ask questions and hear their real-life stories;
  • Network and exchange experiences with leading universities, research institutions and companies from around the EU and beyond.

Why participate in the "Horizon 2020 Proposal Development Lab"

The Lab will provide you with an insight into Horizon 2020 and the practical knowledge and skills to develop competitive project proposals in response to the Horizon 2020 calls.

1. Trainers are AcTUAL project managers and coordinators

This course is built on our direct experience gained over the past 15 years from developing and submitting proposals and implementing projects under the EU's Research Framework Programmes, and recently under Horizon 2020. The trainers of Europa Media are actual project managers, coordinators and financial administrators of EU-funded research and innovation projects. They conceive and develop their own project proposals in conjunction with European and international partners, and implement their projects as coordinator or partner, being a work package or task leader. This course is therefore designed based on this direct experience and is 100% practice-driven.

2. All you need to know about H2020 and winning proposal

This course reflects our direct experience with dozens of Horizon 2020 proposals and 10 successful projects funded under the first calls of Horizon 2020. Throughout the five days of the course, you will go through every step of proposal development under Horizon 2020. After understanding the structure of H2020 and all the opportunities it has to offer, you will experience Europa Media's well known "learning-by-doing" approach: you will be provided with complete theoretical knowledge of proposal development, after which you will be involved in intensive practice-based sessions and utilise your newly-acquired knowledge.

  • Introduction to Horizon 2020
  • From idea to Horizon 2020 proposal
  • Hands-on approach to proposal development under Horizon 2020
  • Impact and exploitation issues in Horizon 2020 proposals
  • Financial aspects of Horizon 2020 and effective budgeting
  • Evaluation of proposals under Horizon 2020

Workshop: Proposal Development under Horizon 2020

Develop a project proposal in response to a work programme topic (“call”). After going through a simple exercise, you will be encouraged to pursue a new way of thinking – a method to ensure that you get started in the right way. You will then further develop your proposal concept step-by-step: defining sound objectives, designing an effective work plan with work packages, creating a Gantt chart and PERT diagram, defining an ideal consortium, elaborating on impact and exploitation issues, and putting together a realistic budget.

Workshop: Evaluation of Proposals under Horizon 2020

You will become an evaluator and evaluate real Horizon 2020 proposals to better understand the evaluators’ perspective and better conceive your future proposals. After conducting the individual evaluation exercise, you will be admitted to the consensus meeting to discuss your scores and comments with your fellow evaluators and arrive at a consensus.
