Recommended Tips for Communicating EU Transport Research

From the perspective of the European Commission, communication about research projects is not just an additional contracting requirement. A central goal of communication is to account for EU spending on research funding by showing the added value of European collaboration, the relevance of the project outcomes in everyday lives and the uptake of results by decision makers.

In order to help research project teams to improve the communication, dissemination and promotion of transport research, the European Commission has released a set of recommendations and tips. The publication includes good practices and examples from project coordinators and a checklist for improving communication activities from the start of the project.

The publication also provides a list of freely accessible tools that the European Commission is providing for use to raise project profiles. The TRIP portal is mentioned as a tool offering an overview of all European transport research, where project members can submit up-to-date information and summaries of project results.
