The Role of Special Funds in Catching-up R&D Strategies

This is a study by the Austrian Institute of Economic Research and Joanneum Research commissioned by the Austrian Council for Research and Technology Development. First it discusses the development of R&D expenditures in the European Union, drivers of R&D expenditures. Then catching up strategies in following countries are described: Canada, Finland, The Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland.
