European Social Survey - Exploring public attitudes, informing public policy: Selected findings from the first five rounds
The European Social Survey (ESS), which has collected data from more than 30 European countries over the last ten years, has published its second findings booklet entitled: "Exploring public attitudes, informing public policy: Selected findings from the first five rounds". In addition, the EC is expected to shortly announce that the ESS will be granted the status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium.
The ESS is a multi-country initiative established in 2001, designed to monitor and explain trends in attitudes, beliefs and values across countries in Europe and its close neighbours. Some six ESS surveys have been conducted to date. The newly published second findings booklet draws on published research from leading international scholars, complemented by additional analysis from ESS researchers in the Core Scientific Team. The findings focus on issues including: attitudes to homosexuality; the social effects of the economic crisis and immigration.
