Call for papers for special issue “Promoting Open Science Principles in Psychology”
Judging by the growing number and popularity of Open Access journals (Ramesh & Singh, 2022), as well as the increasing rates of preregistering studies and sharing data, materials, and protocols (Nosek, 2019), it may be said than Open Science (OS) is becoming the mainstream in academia. Open Science Principles (OSP) represent one of the major pillars of the European Research Area, and in the United States, the current year has been declared the Year of Open Science. Under the leadership of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, all major U.S. federal agencies are working to advance national open science policy, provide access to the results of the nation’s taxpayer-supported research, accelerate discovery and innovation, promote public trust, and drive more equitable outcomes.
In Serbia, the implementation of OSP is also moving forward. The major shift was made during the realization of the BE-OPEN project when the National Policy on OS was adopted, all state universities have adopted their OS policies, and several OS repositories were launched. However, there are still problems and obstacles which often discourage authors to practice OSP. High APC rates and the research evaluation methodology which still relies mainly on journal impact measures are just some of them. Additionally, OS is often reduced to open access and open data, which means that some of the key segments of practicing OSP are being neglected, such as open educational resources, open methodology, and citizen science.
This special issue of Primenjena psihologija is intended to offer an overview of the current OS trends in the field of psychology, problems and obstacles related to OSP implementation, as well as possible ways to overcome those obstacles. We welcome articles in the forms of quantitative or qualitative research, case study, systematic literature review or meta-analysis related but not limited to the following questions:
- What is the current state of OS in psychology?
- How can we overcome the replication crisis in psychology?
- How can we improve the general trust in sciences, particularly in psychology?
- How does the current evaluation practices influence the implementation of OSP in psychology?
- What are the good examples of OSP practice other than open access and open data?
- How can OSP improve the collaboration among psychologist and improve the efficiency of psychological sciences?
