Call for Applications: Futourismo, Ride the digital waves
The Regional Cooperation Council and its Triple-P Tourism Project are organizing the first regional FUTOURISMO competition, seeking innovative digital solutions that will help mitigate the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the heavily affected sector of tourism. These digital solutions will have a positive effect in terms of keeping jobs, maintaining their operations and promoting the region as a touristic destination.
Join us in supporting the development of effective and creative solutions that will help our region to adapt quickly, respond to the crisis and recover from the effects caused by COVID-19. Contact us for more information at tourism@rcc.int.
Who can apply?
Everyone who has a great idea, vision and skills to develop digital solutions that fall into the priority areas of FUTOURISMO and is older than 18, is welcome to join: start-ups, digital innovation hubs, scientific parks, universities, SMEs and teams of young individuals from all Western Balkans 6 that want to contribute and make an impact.
FUTOURISMO searches for digital solutions that are feasible, applicable and that can be implemented in all Western Balkan economies.
When?
Submissions for proposals end on 15 February 2021, 12:00 (CET+1).
The Award Ceremony is scheduled for 23 February 2021.
Why?
Covid-19 has shown the need for greater use of digital technologies and a necessity for further development of digital solutions in many areas. “Smart tourism” is the application of technology and innovation to facilitate the visitor’s experience through a digital platform, and all tourism activities should be linked to common digital infrastructure. Smart tourism in this context is a variety of online services acting as enablers of smart destinations. Helping the Western Balkans region to allocate scarce recovery resources, it is essential to build functioning networks beyond the existing ones, to align with impending priorities, to increase the digital skill of all stakeholders across the region and to improve the digital footprint as a whole. Finally, FUTOURISMO will also serve as an impulse for the stakeholders in the region to work together on the identification of smart digital solutions and further development of digital transformation in the region.
