Potential Candidate Country

Potential candidate countries are countries that may apply for EU membership. Once they have applied to join the European Union they are called applicant country, and as soon as the application has been officially accepted they become candidate country.

The potential candidate countries in the Western Balkans include: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo* (http://ec.europa.eu/enlargement/potential-candidates/index_en.htm)
