Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) mean the legal rights granted with the aim to protect the creations of the human mind (intellect). These rights include Industrial Property Rights (e.g. patents, industrial designs and trademarks) and Copyright (right of the author or creator) and Related Rights (rights of the performers, producers and broadcasting organisations). For EC co-financed projects, IPR normally belong to the project participants. For projects where the EC bears the full cost, the IP is generally the property of the Community. The EC has set up a help-desk to assist with patent issues and protection of IPR.
