Western Balkans Investment Framework - WBIF

The Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) is a joint initiative of the EU, financial organisations, bilateral donors and beneficiaries, aimed at enhancing harmonisation and cooperation in investments for the socio-economic development of the region and contributing to the European perspective of the Western Balkans. It supports the implementation of the EU's Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans. The investments are in line with the connectivity agenda and the green agenda. WBIF allocates grants to strategic infrastructure projects which for example reduce travel times and increase transport safety, increase energy from renewable sources, improve educational levels, as well as increase competitiveness.

The Western Balkans Enterprise Development and Innovation Facility (WB EDIF) is one of the instruments of WBIF. Other instruments include the Regional Energy Efficiency Programme (REEP), European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) and the Green Growth Fund (GGF).
