The Western Balkans Info Hub (previously known as WBC-RTI.info platform http://wbc-rti.info/) acts as a source of high quality targeted information on research, technology and innovation but also education, culture, youth and sports in, with and for the Western Balkans.

The core objectives of the Information Platform are:

  • to support dissemination of high quality information via the website, monthly thematic newsletters and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • to provide analytical support on specific thematic issues
  • to support the bi-regional dialogue on science, technology, education, culture and innovation by benefiting from and interacting with the WB Steering Platforms on Research and Innovation & Education and Culture.

The platform is supported by the project POLICY ANSWERS, funded under the Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation. POLICY ANSWERS - R&I POLICY making, implementation ANd Support in the WEsteRn BalkanS was launched on 1 March 2022 for a period of four years. This new initiative is funded under the Horizon Europe call “Support for R&I policy making in the Western Balkans" (HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ACCESS-06-01) and it is positioned well in line with the EU’s Western Balkans Agenda on Innovation, Research, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (WB Innovation Agenda), outlining a comprehensive, long-term strategy for cooperation with the region, including an Action Plan for its implementation. Through increased investments, its elements and measures will contribute to the economic and societal development and cooperation in and with the region.

Previously the platform was funded by the European Commission as an activity supporting the Western Balkans Steering Platform on Research and Innovation (contract №30-CE-0838742/00-87), by Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy as well as the project WBC-INCO.NET (funded under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development; Contract Number: 212029).
