The International Centre for Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES Centre) is a non-governmental and a non-profit scientific organization based in Zagreb, Croatia. It engages in specific R&D activities that address the problems common for the countries of the East and Southeast European and Mediterranean regions.

SDEWES Centre gathers scientist and professionals from broad range of disciplines of sustainable development of energy, water and environment systems from more than 55 countries. To utilize this huge potential, SDEWES centre Assembly and Management board supported the establishment of SDEWES research groups and application of research project proposals.

SDEWES Centre aims to build a unique research platform capable to form various international and multidisciplinary R&D groups that will provide comprehensive R&D activities, assessment and expert opinions on the research subjects that represent the most important challenges of sustainable development.

SDEWES Centre offers technoeconomic and policy solutions for:

  • Enhancing sustainable development
  • Increasing energy efficiency
  • Energy auditing and management
  • Increasing integration of renewables
  • Electrification of transport
  • Integration of power, heating, transport and water systems
  • Mitigation of climate change
  • Sustainable energy and resource planning
  • Smart energy systems
  • Environmental impact assessment (climate change, emissions, combustion)

SDEWES Centre has also a Macedonian Section based in Skopje.
